Here are some top home protection tips to keep you and your home safe:<\/p>\n

1. Change the Locks<\/h2>\n

This may seem like a simple detail, but it’s often overlooked when people move into a new home<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You should always change the locks to all of your doors. You don’t know who may still have a key to your from handymen to former nannies and house cleaners, friends, and neighbors. It’s impossible to tell how many people have been given a copy of the key.<\/p>\n

Don’t take the chance that your house keys could be in the hands of someone you don’t know. Change all of the locks as soon as you move in.<\/p>\n

2. Get an Alarm<\/h2>\n

Many burglaries are those of convenience – thieves spot an open window or they see a home with no alarm. Installing an alarm is arguably the best way to protect your home since thieves would rather move on to a more vulnerable house where they’re less likely to get caught.<\/p>\n

7. Do Some Landscaping<\/h2>\n

If you have a number of overgrown shrubs and hedges surrounding your home, it’s more likely to be a target for criminals. This is because it makes it easy for them to hide, and decreases the visibility from the street, which means they can sneak in without a passerby or neighbor seeing them.<\/p>\n

10. Use a Safe<\/h2>\n

For just a few hundred bucks, you can get a safe that will protect your most valuable items from thieves.<\/p>\n

Fasten it to the wall or floor so criminals can’t simply take it with them. There are a number of options on the market, but these are a particularly good option for storing firearms or expensive jewelry.<\/p>\n
