6 Healthy Steps to Improve Your Spiritual Development
Do you feel spiritually stagnant?
Have you noticed that you’ve let your spiritual development fall by the wayside recently?
Would you like to learn how to be more spiritual, but sometimes feel like you just don’t have the time to make it happen?
No matter how busy you are, what sort of spiritual practices you follow, or what sort of connection with yourself or a higher plane of existence you’re looking to have, focusing on your spiritual development doesn’t have to be tough.
Keep on reading this post to learn how to become more spiritual.
1. Try Meditating
The first step to improving your spiritual growth?
Start your morning by meditating, even if only for a few moments.
This is an excellent way to begin your day by checking in with yourself, monitoring your spiritual progress, and even helping you to set your intentions for the rest of the day.
If you’re new to meditation, there are lots of apps that can help you to increase your mindfulness and learn how to properly meditate.
Meditating will help to improve your focus, decrease the amount of stress you feel, and just help you to achieve a better spiritual balance.
You should think of meditation as the solid foundation of your spiritual development.
2. Read Books on Spirituality
No matter what kind of God you believe in (or even if you don’t believe in one at all) turning to spiritual literature to help you get in touch with forces outside of your control is an excellent way to improve your spiritual growth.
They can help you to understand the history of spirituality, guide you through difficult moments in your life, or even deeper your connection to God or a Higher Power.
One of our favorite spiritual authors is David Servant, who writes books on spiritual growth and development through a specifically Christian lens.

3. Repeat Positive Mantras
Negative self talk is great at destroying your self confidence as well as seriously hindering your overall spiritual growth.
We understand that it can be tough not to let the tough things in life, or the insecurities you feel, control your existence.
To filter out this negativity, use positive mantras to help you to send your emotional and spiritual energy to the good.
Try repeating positive mantras like, “I am worthy” or “I deserve happiness” or “Today will be wonderful” to yourself when things get challenging. You’ll likely be surprised to discover how much better you feel as the day goes on.
You can even say them to yourself before a big meeting, first date, or public speaking event to boost your self confidence.
Remember, self love is truly magical.
4. Get More Gratitude
When you’re on the path to becoming more spiritual, you should always take the time to give thanks for the positive things in your life.
These don’t have to be huge accomplishments or major life events.
Instead, they can be as small as your toddler learning a new phrase or your partner sending you a sweet text to remind you how much they love you.
When you start highlighting the good in your life, instead of dwelling on all of the negative things you’re facing, you’ll be much more primed for spiritual development.
You’ll also invite more good things into your life.
5. Be Attuned to Signs
Do you feel like the Universe is trying to tell you something — but that you’re just not sure exactly what it’s trying to say?
If so, then it sounds like you need to learn how to be spiritual, and how to invite the Universe to send you the signs and answers you’re looking for.
To do this, try this practice: lay down on the ground, with your arms stretched at your side, palms up. Take three deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Listen to the stillness around you, and spend a few moments thinking about a challenge or problem in your life. Then, ask the Universe or your Higher Power to help you to solve it.
When you emerge from this meditative-like moment, look for signals and signs around you. You’ll be surprised by how much clearer they’ve become.
6. Go Outside
Have you noticed that you’re struggling to connect with yourself and your emotions?
If so, you might be surprised to learn that spending just 15 minutes outdoors every day can help you to hit the reset button on your spiritual development.
Getting in touch with nature can help you to recenter and recalibrate, can give you a serious rush of endorphins, and most of all, ensures that you’re not spending time in front of a screen.
It’s also an excellent way to boost your mood and take in everything that the world around you has to offer.
