Is Someone Spying on My Phone?

In this age of technology, it is possible for others to gain access to your smartphone and track your calls, social media usage and text messages you send.

You might wonder who is spying on my phone, but first, you need to know how to tell if your phone has spyware.

One way to know if someone is spying on your phone is to look at your monthly data usage. If that usage is very high, it could be due to spy software sending your data to the person spying on you.

Also, does your phone randomly reboot without reason? Someone could have remote access to your device.

Background noises, clicks, and voices in the background of calls you make could be because someone is taping your phone. Ask your caller if he or she is in a loud environment with background noise. If not, chances are your phone is being taped.

If you get a text message with symbols, numbers and other characters that don’t make sense, it could be a sign of spy software on your device.

Some spying software uses a code to connect to your phone remotely. If it glitches, you may see that strange text message.

Find Spyware on Your Computer

The next thing you want to do is check to see if someone is monitoring your activity on your computer.

Use at least two anti-virus programs to scan for malware. You need to use more than one program in case the spyware is on the exception list on your anti-virus program.

Then, check your recent activity to see if there is any new software installed on your computer that you didn’t put there yourself.

If you find anything you don’t recognize, Google the name to see what it does. Then research how to uninstall that application.

It’s also a good idea to check where your iCloud backups go. If they are being sent to a third party, you should change that right away.

Then, check your history. Scroll through it and see if there are any sites that you haven’t accessed yourself.

Next, open your Task Manager to find all the applications on your computer. Look for anything unfamiliar.

Look For Hidden Cameras in Your Home

You will have to walk around your home slowly sweeping the device while you listen for feedback. You may have to repeat the process on different frequencies.

Since there are thousands of spots where listening devices or hidden cameras could be installed in your house, this is the best way to find them.

Another way to find hidden cameras is to walk around your house with all the lights turned off at night. Look for small green or red pinpricks of light.

These could be from the “on” light of a microphone or camera. If you see a light, follow it back to the device and remove it.

You can also listen for motion-sensor spy cams by turning off all appliances and electronic devices. It’s easiest if you just shut off the main power switch to your house. Then quietly enter each room.

Listen for a click or a buzz. Many spy cameras make a tiny sound when they are activated.

Check Your Car to See if it is Bugged or Being Tracked

If someone is spying on you, they will likely want to know where you go and when. They may have installed a GPS tracker on your car to track your movements.

It is easier to place a tracking device on the outside of the car than it is the interior. So start by thoroughly checking the exterior.

Check the exterior of your car with a flashlight and a mirror. Look in your wheel wells, behind the bumper, side mirrors, under the hood, and so on.

Next, look inside your car for any strange wires. Look in your glove compartment and under all the seats. Use your flashlight and mirror to look into the vents, too.

Last of all, check your trunk. Look under your spare tire as well as on the inside of your trunk door.
